Spring Dinner & Dance
On March 18, 2023, our TCA Members and friends enjoyed a fun filled evening at the TCA 19th Annual
Spring Round Up Dinner and Dance, held at the Gold Country Fairgrounds. The evening opened with
an opportunity to socialize, purchase tickets for an opportunity to take home one of the large number of
giveaway items, and look at the amazing Live Auction items for an exciting bid off after dinner. Dinner
was delicious, consisting of a tender piece of flavorful beef, salad, mashed potatoes, green beans and
roll with all the fixings once again made by Cow Camp Catering leaving everyone’s palate satisfied. A
variety of beverages were available from free waters, soda, a mixed drink bar and a separate adorable
trailer to us by Jeanne Reaume for beer and wine.
Door prizes were given away as several dinner tickets were pulled from the drum during the evening.
Once dinner was enjoyed, then on to the Live Auction with a long list of exciting items – ranging from
donated Art, Cow Hide, Rocking Chair made with horseshoes, Ton of Hay, assorted Firearms and many
others. The fun continued with dancing to catchy music by Buck Ford and Pure Country Band, late into
the evening.
What a fantastic evening for TCA’s only fundraising event each year. The evening brought in
approximately $35,000.00, that will be used to continue to support the numerous High School Graduate,
ongoing College and other Ag related scholarships that are awarded each year. TCA also sponsors the
Placer and Nevada Beef Carcass Awards each year providing beef quality assurance and educational
information and feedback on each youth’s market steer and then providing monetary awards and belt
buckles to the top youth beef producers that have raised, shown, and sold market steers at the Placer
and Nevada County Fairs and Gold Country Fairs. Speaking of fair, TCA also sponsors and provides the
Grand Champion buckle to the market steer winners and Steer Bred and Fed winners at all 3 fairs. This
year we offered a unique educational opportunity called “Ranch Tours” sponsored by TCA. This was a
tour of local TCA Member ranches to provide local beef producer education. Financial support has also
been given to Lincoln FFA, Del Oro FFA, Nevada Union FFA and Placer & Nevada Beef Ambassadors for
their involvement in beef education and help in ensuring our dinner went smoothly. Several TCA Board
members also helped at Lincoln FFA’s Commitment to Corduroy Benefit Dinner in May. TCA is
committed to supporting our community and local beef growers and each year selects a Cattleman of
the Year, Top Hand, and are working on a New Horizon Rancher award. Each year ends with the TCA
Steer & Heifer Classic. This is a beef cattle show put on by TCA that brings in youth from all over to
compete for Champion Market Steer, Market Heifer and Breeding Heifer. This is an amazing opportunity
to meet, mentor and support our future beef cattle growers and future TCA members.
We are already in the works of planning the 2024 TCA Spring Fundraiser Dinner in March. If you are
interested in volunteering to help plan and help during the event or provide a contribution (sponsorship
or donation items), please contact one of our current TCA Board Members for further information. We
would love to hear from you!
